Learn to name and recognise what you hear, to organise music notation, write it and read it. These practical and academic sessions are suitable for absolute beginners, which may include students who play by ear and do not read music yet.
Learn about tuning your instrument, strumming and picking, simple chords for pop songs, scales and chord symbols on this starter course. Use any acoustic guitar for this introductory course in playing pop, rock, blues and folk styles.
Come and learn to play more songs! This second term of study will suit you if you have experience of tuning your guitar efficiently, know note names up to the fourth fret, and can play the essential folk chords shapes. https://www.citylit.ac.uk/courses/folk-and-pop-guitar-1b
For sax players with over a year of playing experience who read music, this course follows last term’s Sax 2a. Develop your sound, technique, reading and musicianship. Emphasis on popular music and jazz, including practice at improvisation and ensemble playing.
